Inset basins are amongst the most popular basins in Australia, giving you the best of both an undercounter and above counter basin. These basins feature a design that sits partly above the bench and partly below, giving you ample space in your cabinet underneath whilst not encroaching too much on your bench space. Perfect for all bathrooms.
Undermount basins are perfect partners for stone vanity benchtops, allowing the stone to become the feature in your bathroom. As the basin sits below the surface your bench space is maximised, perfect for families or busy bathrooms or where space is at a premium.
Wall hung basins are wall mounted and do not need to be installed in a vanity unit. They are perfect for powder rooms, small spaces or if you have ample storage elsewhere and are going for a minimalist basin look.
Above counter basins can create a showpiece of your basin and give you the maximum amount of space in the vanity unit below. Perfect for all bathroom styles, coming in a range of shapes and designs.
Semi recessed basins are designed to overhang at the front of a vanity unit and are great for children or people that have difficulty accessing deeper set basins. They are also great for narrow bathrooms where a slim vanity unit needs to be installed but you still want to maximise your basin space.
Counter top basins are traditional inset style basins that sit in your counter top with a small lip above the benchtop surface. Perfect for traditional bathroom styles.
Add a touch of luxury to your bathroom with a gorgeous freestanding basin. A true show stopper, these basins are not for the faint hearted and are a centrepiece in any modern bathroom.
An above counter basin (also called an above bench or vessel basin) sits on top of the vanity benchtop rather than being inset into it. The full exterior of the basin is visible, making it a strong design statement. Above counter basins are available in ceramic, stone, concrete, and composite materials in a range of shapes, round, oval, rectangular, and sculpted forms.
An inset basin (also called a top-mount or drop-in basin) drops into a pre-cut hole in the benchtop, with the rim of the basin sitting on top of the benchtop surface. This is one of the most common basin installation types in Australian bathrooms and suits a wide range of vanity styles. Inset basins are practical, secure, and easy to replace without changing the benchtop.
A wall hung basin is fixed directly to the wall with no vanity cabinet below, it is cantilevered off the wall with the waste pipe running up the wall or through the wall behind. Wall hung basins give a bathroom a very open, spacious feel and are popular in powder rooms, compact ensuites, and contemporary minimalist bathrooms.
An undercounter basin (also called undermount basin) is installed below the benchtop surface, with the benchtop material cut to the basin opening and the basin bonded underneath. This creates a seamless, flush benchtop with no rim or lip, water and mess can be wiped directly from the benchtop surface into the basin.
A freestanding basin is a basin unit mounted on a pedestal, column, or exposed stand that supports it from below, with no wall cabinet or vanity behind it. The plumbing may be exposed (as a design feature) or partially concealed within the pedestal. Freestanding basins are a statement piece, often used in powder rooms or feature bathrooms where design impact takes priority.
A semi-recessed basin sits partially into the benchtop (or vanity top), with the front portion of the basin protruding beyond the front edge of the cabinet. This allows for a shallower vanity cabinet (often 350 – 400mm deep instead of the standard 450 – 550mm) while still providing a practical basin size. Semi-recessed basins are ideal for narrow bathrooms where depth is at a premium.
Most Australian basins require a 32mm or 40mm diameter basin waste. The basin manufacturer's specifications will confirm the correct size. Ensure the thread size (typically 1¼" or 1½") matches your trap and waste pipe connection. Always check the waste specifications of your basin before ordering.
